Biotech & Renewables Center
 |
At the Biotech & Renewables Center Clariant develops tailor-made biotechnological processes for the economic and sustainable production of biobased chemicals and biofuels.
The Center focusses on biocatalysis and biorefining. Innovative technologies for the sustainable conversion of renewable feedstocks into biofuels and biobased chemicals through energy-efficient processes allow to substitute fossil based products and to open the pathway to new biobased products with improved performance.
For example, Clariant has developed the sunliquid® process for the sustainable production of cellulosic ethanol from agricultural residues. Feedstock and process specific enzymes, which are produced during the process, hydrolize straw, bagasse, or corn stover. The following fermentation of all sugars to ethanol and an energy saving separation technology result in a competitive and sustainable biosolution.
By combining our strong biotechnology platform with our core competencies in chemistry, catalysis and separation technologies we offer our customers system solutions out of one hand. |
