New Business Development
| New Business Development is responsible for developing new projects and applications outside of existing Business units. This comprises ideation (New Business Scouting), evaluation with regard to potential (New Business Planning), through to development (New Business Projects). |
| New Business Development (NBD) is organized in three segments: New Business Scouting, New Business Planning and Business Projects. In a well structured process the team works on scouting of new business ideas followed by detailled assessment of these business opportunites as basis for the implementation of new business projects. In addition, the NBD team works on expanding non-core, early-stage activities of the Business Units which show substantial growth potential. |
| The tasks of the New Business Scouting group are ideation, screening, and assessment of new business opportunities. The group manages and reviews promising ideas from a wide range of internal and external sources to guarantee a medium-term balanced portfolio of growth opportunities. Attractive ideas with strategic fit and promising value proposition will get transferred to New Business Planning. |
| The New Business Planning group takes a "deep-dive" approach to the assessment of potential business opportunities proposed by New Business Scouting. Firstly, it performs a thorough market analysis. Secondly, it coordinates the initial R&D required to verify the feasibility of the concept, and, finally, develops a business model and an initial business plan. Upon approval a new business project will get started. |
| New Business Projects has the full responsibility to implement the business opportunity and to manage the business until a certain level of maturity is reached in order to transfer the business either to an existing Business Unit or to establish a new Business Unit. |
