Clariant Supports Indonesia’s Educators
|Clariant Indonesia has established a scholarship program to support the local community in Tangerang, Indonesia. While the program has been in place since 2007, last year saw the company take a major step forward by organizing a training workshop aimed at enabling local teachers to further improve their skills.|
As for other projects Clariant Indonesia has partnered with the Indonesian philanthropic organization Putera Sampoerna Foundation to deliver to Indonesian teachers a series of developmental programs (Professional Development Program-PDP) designed to help them in their efforts to modernize their pedagogy, thereby supporting students in reaching their full potential. The programs allow teachers, superintendents and administrators to upgrade their knowledge and skill sets through training that is based on standards established by the Indonesian Department of Education. Knowledge and skill sets being promoted are, for example, new learning paradigms, classroom management, learning strategies and lesson planning. The decision to organize this program in conjunction with the Foundation was taken because it dovetails with our Responsible Care® and CSR objectives of helping to develop the company’s local neighborhood. As a bonus, by training our teachers, our impact can extend further than simply to those who attend our seminars. One teacher educates between 40 and 50 students. Not only can the community benefit from Clariant’s engagement, but also the company itself. Clariant is anchored deeply in the area what is to the favor of the reputation of the company, its talent acquisition and reduced costs for recruitment. In 2013, Clariant brings back the teachers that were involved last year, and advanced training will be provided.
