| 3 | Compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and provisions as well as with international treaties and conventions is mandatory for all companies of the Clariant group. Where they are deemed to be inadequate, Clariant standards based on sound industrial practices shall apply. |
| 4 | Comprehensive identification and assessment of risks relating to our operations and products is a prerequisite for our business processes. Appropriate measures are taken to manage, minimize or eliminate, and communicate the risks. Regular inspections and audits support this process. ESH projects and measures are carefully evaluated in order to achieve the best possible cost/benefit ratio. |
| 5 | All employees assume responsibility for ESH in line with their function, level of authority and qualification. Open dialogue promotes ESH awareness and motivation. ESH training and know-how transfer provides the required knowledge and competence. |
| 6 | Suppliers, contractors and service providers are carefully selected, taking into account their ESH performance. Together with our customers, they are supported in their improvement processes. |
| 7 | Clariant strives for continuous improvement of its ESH performance by developing new and better products, processes and services with efficient use of energy and resources, minimization of environmental impact and waste generation, and safe and responsible disposal of residual wastes. Efficient supply chain management contributes to this effort. |
| 8 | Clariant takes appropriate contingency measures to control and limit the consequences of an incident and has an emergency management organization with regular training and exercises in place throughout the Group. |
| 9 | Employees, authorities, customers, shareholders and the public are informed regularly of our ESH performance and objectives. |
