Versatility in perfection — phosphorus plethora

Clariant is Europe's leading producer of phosphorus pentoxide and polyphosphoric acids. These raw materials are widely used in the production of surfactants as well as organic intermediates for the color, pharmaceutical and vitamins industries. Further applications are cleaning, plasticizing and the usage in specialty synthesis.

Starting from white phosphorus we manufacture inorganic products such as red phosphorus, phosphorus pentoxide and polyphosphoric acids. Our organic phosphorus products include various phosphate esters used for cleaning and plasticizing as well as derivatives of phosphonic and phosphonus acid used for specialty synthesis.

Phosphorus-based plastic manufacturing catalyst are used for production of carbodiimides from isocyanates.

      Red Phosphorus HB 400 is a stabilised and microencapsulated grade of red phosphorus, delivered as a wet filter cake with 15-25% moisture. It has a good oxidation and thermal stability. Red Phosphorus HB 400 is a brownish-red powder that is insoluble in water and organic solvents. more

    • Hordaphos® CC MIS

      Hordaphos CC MIS is recommended as a base component for acidic cleaners, e.g. for sanitation, automotive and food processing industries.     • Hordaphos® CC MN

      Hordaphos CC MN is recommended as a base component for acidic cleaners for sanitation, automotive and food processing industries. It is a clear, colourless to yellowish liquid with an ester-like odour. The product is miscible in any ratio with water. For more details see our Video about Hordaphos. more

    • Hordaphos® MDST

      Hordaphos MDST is a white to yellowish waxy powder with a characteristic fatty odour. It is not soluble in water at room temperature. For more details see our Video about Hordaphos. more

  • Metal Treatment

    • Hordaphos® 124

      Hordaphos 124 is a yellowish to brown liquid with an ester-like odour. Solid particles may be precipitated at low temperatures but this process is reversible on warming.    Hordaphos 124 is soluble in common organic solvents such as aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, esters and ketones. It can be emulsified with water. Hordaphos 124 is miscible with naphthenic and paraffinic mineral oils and with commercial vegetable and animal oils. Despite this good compatibility its miscibility with mineral oils and other additives used should be tested before use. For more details see our Video about Hordaphos. more
