    • Many flexible packaging applications require the addition of migratory antistatics to ensure trouble-free manufacturing and high speed handling during post operations such as finished packaging article production and pack filling operations. The aesthetic characteristics of the packaging such as color perception, gloss and transparency also have to meet the highest standards and cannot be negatively affected by the antistatics.

      Clariant offers a range of short and long term migratory antistatics additives and solutions under the tradenames Hostastat and AddWorks.  Both are suited for most common polyolefin film processes such as BOPP, CPP and blown film manufacturing.     • Films for flexible packaging are typically manufactured on state-of-the-art high output production lines. Both the processing equipment as well as the raw materials such as PP and PE are pushed to the limits. Additional protection against the exposure to high shear forces and elevated temperatures will benefit the line output as well as the quality of the films produced. Expected net results are reduced gel and black spot counts, reduced number of film breakages at high line speeds and more stable film processing.     • Inside the extruder, complex auto-oxidation reactions take place in the hot polymer melt. The polymer is further stressed during the extrusion process with shear.
