Clariant's efforts towards a more sustainable future are further extended by the Exolit® OP Terra flame retardants, and Licocene® Terra waxes and performance polymers. Not only are they based on renewable carbon feedstock, but they are also free of palm oil derivatives and animal ingredients. The new Terra line offers like-for-like drop-in solutions for hot melt adhesives, plastics and coatings applications that perform precisely as their fossil-based versions.

Clariant’s sustainability designator »Terra« is applied to products and solutions featuring significant content based on renewable resources with mass-balance certification or real renewable content (at least 50% RCI – Renewable Carbon Index).

  • Licocene® PE 4201 granules TERRA

    Licocene PE 4201 granules TERRA is a non-polar, low viscous polyethylene wax made from mass-balanced certified renewable ethylene.

    Licocene PPA 330 TP TERRA is an amorphous metallocene-technology based propylene-ethylene-copolymer made from mass-balanced certified renewable propylene and ethylene.

  • Exolit® OP 1230 Terra

    Exolit OP 1230 Terra is a white, fine-grained powder based on an organic phosphinate. The product is non-hygroscopic and it is insoluble in water and organic solvents. Clariant’s Exolit OP flame retardants for polyamides are all based on aluminum diethyl-phosphinate (= DEPAL). The pure substance DEPAL is sold as Exolit OP 1230 and in combination with synergists as Exolit OP 13xx & Exolit OP 14xx types. Exolit OP 1230 is the first non-halogenated flame retardant which can withstand the demanding requirements of this high end segment of engineering plastics.Exolit OP 1230 Terra is chemicially and from its composition equivalent to Exolit OP 1230, but comes with a mass balance certificate as for its production, renewable based Ethylene was sourced.Therefore we assume that for Exolit OP Terra products no additional performance testing and qualification compared to the standard grade are necessary.   • Exolit® OP 1240 Terra

    Exolit OP 1240 Terra is a flame retardant based on an organic aluminum phosphinate which is a thermally stable white solid without any hazard classification or labeling. It can be easily compounded into polyesters and subsequently processed again to manufacture flame retarded parts used in consumer or industrial products. The product is non-hygroscopic and it is insoluble in water and organic solvents.Exolit OP 1240 Terra is chemicially and from its composition equivalent to Exolit OP 1240 but comes with a mass balance certificate as for its production, renewable based Ethylene was sourced.Therefore, we assume that for Exolit OP Terra products no additional performance testing and qualification compared to the standard grade are necessary.For more details see our Innovation Spotlight video.

  • Exolit® OP 1400 Terra

    Exolit OP 1400 Terra is a non-halogenated flame retardant based on organic phosphinates for reinforced polyamide 6, polyamide 66 and high temperature polyamides. The product achieves its flame retardant effect through a combined gas phase and condensed phase mode of action.Exolit OP 1400 Terra is chemically and from its composition equivalent to Exolit OP 1400, but comes with a mass balance certificate as for its production, renewable based Ethylene was sourced.
