Waxes for PVC
Clariant’s waxes are very effective and economical lubricants especially suitable for the PVC industry. Their benefits include better flow of the PVC melt, better release/anti-sticking, slip and anti blocking effects and better demolding properties to the finished article.
These lubricants are especially useful for processes such as calendering, extrusion, injection molding, foam applications and flexible PVC. They allow various benefits on the melt, e.g. friction reduction and shear dependant viscosity control leading to an enlargement of the processing windows.
Waxes serve many purposes in PVC during various processing steps such as mixing, extrusion, calendering and the finished article properties.
Solutions from Clariant fulfil these requirements. The montanic acid esters in particular provide a high degree of processing safety and result in good product characteristics.
The slip of the melt along the walls plays a decisive role in theprocessability and characteristics of the final products in PVC extrusion. External lubricants, especially PE waxes and hydrocarbon waxes are recommended here.
In more demanding applications, such as extruded profiles for windows, the use of montanic acid esters has a very positive effect on processing and performance. Depending on the type of stabilization and the end product, different waxes are recommended.
