  • Air Entrainers

    Air entrainment is the intentional creation of small air pockets in concrete by the addition of an air entraining agent to the mix. The primary purpose of air entrainment is to increase the durability of the hardened concrete, especially in climates subject to freeze-thaw as the air pockets relieve internal pressure on the concrete by providing tiny chambers for freezing water to expand into. Additionally, workability of the concrete is increased.

    Based on our experience in surfactant chemistry, we offer a range of air entraining agents under the brand names Hostapur® and, Genapol®, and Zeliquid.

    Our Hostapur® OSB is used as an air entraining agent for mortars, plasters and grouts based on cement, gypsum or lime. It is rapidly soluble, enables faster wetting of solid particles in the dry admixture and the build-up of micro foam in a short time. The performance of this air entrainer is superior to traditional sodium lauryl sulfates, as it is not sensitive to calcium salts, non-hygroscopic and twice as efficient in producing controllable, strong and stable micro foam.

      Strong foaming agent, sensitive and stable against water hardness salts and superior foaming agent, fast foam built-up and high foam stability with micro structure. more

    • Hostapur OSB

      Hostapur OSB generates highly stable micro foam and is unsusceptible to water hardness. Additionally, it has a low tendency to build up viscosity. more

    Liquid Air Entraining Agents

    • Emulsogen EPA 1954

      Emulsogen EPA 1954 is used as anionic emulsifier for the emulsion polymerization of vinyl acetate dispersions, styrene-butadiene latex and E-PVC. more

    • Genapol LRO liq.

      Genapol LRO liquid is a sodium lauryl ether sulfate which is a strong foaming agent and unsusceptible to water hardness. it is also a wetting agent and adjuvant used in crop protection applications and in industrial and home care products. more

    • Hostapur OS liq.

      Hostapur OS liquid is an aqueous solution of an alpha olefin sulfonate which generates highly stable micro-foam and is unsusceptible to water hardness. It is also used as anionic wetting agent in liquid formulations and is a high foaming primary surfactant for handy dishwashing liquids. more

    • Zeliquid LP 2

      Zeliquid LP 2 is compatible with other anionic and nonionic surfactants and resistant to water hardness. more

  • Wetting Agents

    Wetting agents are used to improve the wetting of fine particles in the dry plaster or mortar. Thus, they improve workability, penetration and binding strength of concrete to surfaces and lead to a higher performance and time savings. Their delivery form as (fine) powder assures rapid and homogeneous uptake and distribution in water. All wetting agents from Clariant are nonylphenolethoxylate free (NPEO free).

    • Genapol PF 40

      Genapol PF 40 is used as nonionic emulsifier for the emulsion polymerization of monomers like acrylates, styrene-acrylates and vinyl acetate. more

    • Genapol PF 80 FP

      Genapol PF 80 FP is a EO/PO block polymer. It enhances the workability, penetration and binding power of concretes/mortars to surfaces. more

    • Genapol® T 250 p

      Genapol T 250 p is a solid nonionic surfactant, suitable for coating of enzymes, bleach activators and extrusion products. It is an excellent binder for toilet rim blocks and gels. more

    • Genapol T 800 P

      As a non-ionic surface active substance Genapol T 800 p can be combined with other non-ionic, anionic and cationic products. more

    Liquid Wetting Agents

    • Emulsogen LCN 118

      Emulsogen LCN 118 is used as a nonionic emulsifier for emulsion polymerization improving the shear, temperature and electrolyte stability of polymer dispersions. The recommended usage is 2% active based on monomers.In waterborne and solvent-borne lacquers (low PVC), Emulsogen LCN 118 can be used as a compatibilizer to improve tinting strength and to reduce rub-out, water absorption, and haze effects. Dosage recommendation (supply form) in waterborne acrylic lacquers is 1.3-1.9% and in solvent-borne alkyd lacquers 0.33-0.66%. When used during the premixing phase in the production of waterborne emulsion paints (high PVC), Emulsogen LCN 118 also acts as a processing aid and helps to reduce the grinding time by faster deagglomeration of TiO2 and fillers. This is especially of interest in areas of hard water. The general dosage recommendation (supply form) for this purpose is 0.3%. more

    • Sapogenat T 139

      Sapogenat ® T 139 is a nonionic surfactant for the chemical industry. This clear, yellowish liquid is composed of tributyphenol ethoxylate. more

  • Defoamers

    Defoamers destabilize any foam which builds up during the mixing process and reduce the air content.

    Clariant supplies a selected line of high-quality defoamers for the construction industry under the name Prevol™. They are mineral oil-free and based on EO/PO block polymers. 

    Upon request, the EO/PO ratio can be tailored to your needs.

  • Biocides

    Since admixtures are normally provided as water-based solutions, the preservation of these formulations is mandatory.

    Clariant provides a broad range of different antimicrobial products to the Asian and Latin American market under the brand name Nipacide®.

    • Nipacide CFX 4

      Nipacide CFX 4 is an in-can biocide based on formaldehyde + chloromethyl and methylisothiazolinone. Nipacide CFX 4 is a water-based low toxicity isothiazolinone/ formaldehyde donor biocide, developed for the complete in-can and head space protection of water-based products. Nipacide CFX 4 is effective against a wide range of microorganisms including gram positive and gram negative bacteria, yeast and fungi. When products are prone to surface contamination by fungi and head space protection is required, Nipacide CFX 4 should be the biocide of choice. Nipacide CFX 4 is effective against a wide range of spoilage organisms and pH stable up to pH 9 and temperature stable up to 40 °C. more

    • Nipacide CI 15

      Nipacide CI 15 is an in-can biocide based on CMIT/MIT. Nipacide CI 15 is a water based biocide, developed for the complete in-can protection of water based products including water based / Latex/PVA adhesives, PVA / acrylic polymer emulsions, water based decorative paints, printing inks, metal working fluids and construction admixtures. Nipacide CI is effective against a wide range of microorganisms including gram positive and gram negative bacteria, yeast and fungi. Thermal and pH stability for Nipacide CI is a critical consideration and it should not be used for products with pH >8.5 or production temperatures of >40 °C. more

    • Nipacide TBX

      Nipacide TBX is an in-can biocide based on benzisothiazolinone + triazine. Nipacide TBX is a low toxicity biocide intended for industrial use only as a microbiostat preservative for aqueous compositions such as adhesives or tackifiers, polymer emulsions and lattices, natural and synthetic thickeners, aqueous slurries, construction compounds, metal working fluids and paints & coatings. Nipacide TBX combines the outstanding stability of Nipacide BIT based biocides with the rapid kill of Nipacide BK. more
