Our Antifrogen fluids and cooling brines keep installations running effectively, efficiently and safely in often the most unexpected places – what we refer to as special applications.

Most people can think of undersoil heating systems – the dream of every stadium groundskeeper - and ice arena refrigeration cycles. Here, the frost resistance of our monoethylene glycol-based fluid remains stable for years, ensuring that a constant ice temperature can be achieved whatever the skating discipline. Did you also know that whether for curling or speed skating each stadium demands a different temperature to craft the perfect ice surface1?

Less well known is that this same solution is approved by the German Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -Prüfung (www.bam.de) as a leakage detection fluid for use in double walled tanks for above- and over-ground storage containment of oil, petrol, waste matter and hazardous materials. And, staying on the safety theme, our fluids provide the ultimate in antifreeze protection to sprinkler systems installed as fire protection in commercial and residential buildings. Antifrogen L, which is monopropylene-based, was the first antifreeze to receive official approval from the VdS Schadenverhütung institute for stationary water extinguishing systems found everywhere from parking garages and warehouses to exhibition halls.

We also offer a low-viscosity, low-temperature antifreeze and corrosion-inhibiting medium for closed loop systems used in the century-old construction technique of artificial ground freezing. The refrigerated coolant extracts heat from the ground, converting the soil pore water to ice and resulting in an extremely strong, impermeable material for ground improvement2.

Products

  • Antifrogen® N

Antifrogen® N is a liquid, tinted pale yellow, for use as a heat transfer medium in closed hot water heating systems, heat pumps and as cooling brine in industrial refrigeration equipment. Antifrogen® N is not suitable for the use in food or pharmaceutical applications. Alternatively, the use of Antifrogen® L is recommended. The product is inhibited without the use of nitrites-, amines-, borates-, silicates- and phosphates. The optimization of the corrosion inhibition system was performed without the use of CMR-substances (cancerogenic, mutagenic, reprotoxic). Read more about Clariant Heat Transfer Fluids more

  • Antifrogen® L

Antifrogen® L is a clear liquid, tinted blue, for use as a heat transfer medium in heat pump systems and in the food industry, e.g. in breweries, dairies, ice-cream factories, cold stores and fish processing factories.

  • Antifrogen® KF

Antifrogen KF is a non-toxic clear liquid, based on an aqueous formate solution which is used as a low-temperature brine down to -50 °C in industrial and food refrigeration systems. The brine adjusted for reliable protection against freezing is inhibited with non-toxic corrosion inhibitors and is nitrite, amine and borate-free. Read more about Clariant Heat Transfer Fluids more

  • Leak Indicator-Clariant

Leak Indicator-Clariant is a liquid, tinted green, for use as a leak-detection-fluid after mixing with water for double-walled tanks. The product is inhibited without the use of nitrites-, amines-, borates-, silicates- and phosphates. The optimization of the corrosion inhibition system was performed without the use of CMR-substances (cancerogenic, mutagenic, reprotoxic). more
