Control of sebum production

Acne-prone skin is a major concern, both for teenagers and adults. The main cause is an over-production of sebum due to stress, infection, hormones, diet, or genes. This will favor the development of bacteria, particularly Propiones acnes (newly named Cutibacterium acnes). Skin is aggressed and becomes irritated.

To relieve acne-prone skins, Clariant Active Ingredients has developed natural actives for cosmetic skin care products that will modulate bacteria proliferation, decrease irritation and limit sebum production.

Gesolza: sebum regulator beyond blemishes

80 to 90% of adolescent population suffers from acne-prone skin. But also 40 to 50% of adults over the age of 25. This can hinder self-image, hamper self-confidence, and even lead to isolation or depression. Therefore, fighting acne-prone skin is a crucial topic.

When skin is aggressed, sebaceous glands are stimulated and produce sebum in excess. In parallel, excessive proliferation of keratinocytes blocks the pores, creating spots and comedones. While sebum accumulates in the pores, bacteria proliferate and their activity causes irritation, redness and itching.

To control sebum production and re-balance skin bacterial population, Clariant Active Ingredients has developed Gesolza, a powerful mixture of three plant extracts that modulates the proliferation of P. acnes, decreases sebum secretion and reduces comedones. Gesolza soothes skin, tightens pores, and reduces lesions left by blemishes in only 2 weeks.
