Eligibility Requirements for the
2016 Science, Technology, EngineeringClariant Oil and Mining Services’ (OMS) Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education program will provide up to $5,000 in STEM-related materials to Conroe ISD K-12 public school educators. Materials requested must be used to help qualify a student team for a local, statewide or national science, technology, education or math-related competition. The competition must focus on a STEM-related topic and must be considered a qualifying competition. All applicants must submit a detailed list of requested materials.

Applications are provided by Clariant Oil and Mining Services to an appropriate representative at all Conroe ISD elementary, middle or high schools.

Incomplete applications will not be accepted. All hard-copy applications must be stapled. All supporting documentation or materials must arrive together.

To be eligible to apply for STEM materials funding, an applicant must be a teacher or a coach, and currently employed by the Conroe Independent School District. The materials must be used to qualify for or to enter a local, regional or national science, technology, education or math-related competition.
Classroom & material requirements: Clariant OMS will fund up to $5,000 in STEM-related materials. Materials requested must be used to help qualify a student team for a local, statewide or national science, technology, education or math-related competition. The competition must focus on a STEM-related topic and must be considered a qualifying competition. All applicants must submit a detailed list of requested materials. All materials will be purchased by Clariant OMS and sent directly to the winning educator.
Creative Essay: Each applicant must include a typed or handwritten essay, addressing the need for the requested STEM program materials, competition submission idea and competition details.
Applications will not be returned and will become the property of Clariant Oil and Mining Services.
For the purposes of evaluating applications, a selection committee comprised of Clariant OMS employees will review all properly completed submissions. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applicants are evaluated on the basis of academic need and creative essay responses.
Each application will be evaluated based on weighted criteria of 50% academic need and 50% essay responses.
Finalists will be required to participate in a short phone interview prior to announcing the recipient.
Notification of Recipient:The recipient of STEM program funding will be notified individually by a Clariant OMS STEM Program Committee representative. Notification will be made during the fall semester in which the scholarship is to be awarded. The STEM materials will be presented at a Clariant OMS reception in December 2013. Recipient and students are required to attend this function
