Clariant’s expansive range of pigment preparations provide a variety of ways for manufacturers to achieve the desired light fastness and opacity needs in their wood coatings and decorative stains. Our innovative pigment dispersions help protect wood and enhance its natural beauty in applications ranging from traditional solvent borne wood stains and clear wood finishes to environmentally conscious systems like water-based, water-miscible, and UV-curable wood coatings.
Aqueous binder-free pigment preparations based on non-ionic wetting agents and manufactured without using APEO additives. They are recommended for transparent wood stains & glazes. Binder free transparent Iron Oxide pigment preparations manufactured without using APEO additives are recommended for transparent wood stains & glazes.
Colanyl 100 Range
Binder free water-based organic and inorganic pigment preparations manufactured without using APEO additives. Colanyl 100 range is recommended for opaque or semi opaque wood stains & glazes.
Colanyl 500 Range
Aqueous binder-free pigment preparations manufactured without using APEO additives. These aqueous pigment preparations are compatible with water-based low VOC and VOC-free decorative coatings (1) and are recommended for opaque or semi opaque wood stains & glazes.
Hostatint 500 Range
Hostatint 500 is a range of binder-free pigment preparations manufactured without using APEO (alkylphenol ethoxylated) additives. They are developed for modern low VOC decorative coatings and are recommended for opaque or semi opaque wood stains & glazes. These multipurpose preparations are compatible with water-based and solvent-based decorative coatings.
Hostatint A 100 Range
Solvent based organic and inorganic pigment preparations containing an aldehyde carrier resin. They are recommended for semi opaque wood stains & glazes, using the organic-based & opaque Iron Oxides types and are recommended for transparent wood stains & glazes, using the newly developed transparent Iron Oxides types.
Hostatint A 100-ST Range
The Hostatint A 100-ST range contains pigments which have no halogens (chlorine or bromine) in their molecular formula. Bright green shades can now be formulated to meet the restrictions on halogen content in the electronics industry. Supplementing the well-established range of Hostatint A 100, the ST-preparations are based on a widely compatible aldehyde resin and a solvent with a flash point above 100 °C. This results in safer transportation, storage and handling. Suitable for highly transparent wood stains and glazes.

Hostatint UV 100 Range
The recently re-formulated Hostatint UV 100 is the next generation product range of high-performance pigment preparations for UV cured wood coatings which do not contain water or solvents. This new version is especially designed for industrial coatings and wood finishes and has been engineered without the inclusion of Hexandioldiacrylate (HDDA); it allows for easier compliance and use by major furniture and consumer goods producers.
Hostanol HW 30 Range
Hostanol HW 30 is a range of solid pigment preparations based on polyvinyl butyral as carrier material. It is suitable for use in alcohol containing systems, esters and glycols can be used as additional solvents. Main fields of application are highly transparent solvent-based wood stains and marker inks. Furthermore, they can be used in gravure and flexographic printing inks based on nitrocellulose and for coating aluminium foils.
Hostatint SA Range
Hostaint SA preparations are an optimal solution for tinting natural wood stains and oils, derived from oils such as linseed oil. With low viscosity, advanced sedimentation behavior, high tinting strength and quality consistency, the preparations are easy to handle with no migration into waterborne or solvent borne topcoats. They do not require special labeling, making them perfect to replace traditional dyes.
Licosperse pigment preparations are for sustainable wood coatings, polishes, and other oil-or wax-based products. The portfolio comprises brilliant shades from traditional to eye-catching, is heavy metal and resin free, non-toxic and non-flammable. Licosperse preparations are recommended as alternative colorants to replace dyes in solvent and oil-based applications. As a single product that is applicable for many different applications, the ready-to-use blends save time and costs in the coloration process. Color recipes for popular shades are readily available, for easy integration into most systems and simplified quality control.
