Specific Color Solutions for Laundry Detergents
Colorants are used here to color the detergent itself and are important to market a particular brand. Also, blue or violet colorants could boost the effect of the brightener.
Colorants can be used in detergents if they fulfill the following technical requirements:
- Stable to alkalis
- Stable to sodium perborate and percarbonate
- Very good light fastness
- No staining of textiles in wash baths
For colorant selection we recommend carrying out trials in each case and observing local legislation.
Clariant offers a wide range of colorants for these applications. Please select the colorants from our product list.
Laundry Powder and Pearls
Colored granules are added to laundry powders. These products are made of sodium tripolyphosphate, sodium carbonate, polyacrylate, sodium aluminosilicate, TAED and enzymes.
Liquid detergents are formulated with surfactants and can contain builder.
Fabric softeners contain up to 15 % active detergent, up to 0.2 % optical brighteners and 0.5 % perfume. To prevent precipitation anionic colorants must always be added in high dilution (about 0.1 %) to cationic fabric softeners.
