spectrometry

Atomic spectrometry can be used for the determination of more than 70 elements of the periodic table. It allows detection and quantification of heavy metals and other trace elements down to the ppb level.

Atomic spectrometry methods used by CC Analytical Services:
  • Atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS)
Methods using inductively coupled plasma with electron or mass detection
  • ICP-OES
  • ICP-MS
  • aas

Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) is the ″classical ″ technique for determination of metal ions in a wide variety of matrices. In addition to the flame ionization detector CC Analytical Services uses a sensitive mercury analyzer.

    Applications of AAS:
    • Determination of many elements of the periodic system both traces and in larger concentrations
    • Determinations in organic solvents without digestion
    • Hg - Analysis

  • icp oes

This technique permits very effective and simultaneous determination of many elements in almost all matrices. The method is quick and economical.

    Examples of applications:
    • Determination of trace amounts of elements in products
    • Heavy metal concentrations in water and soil samples
    • Determinations in body fluids (blood, urine, etc.)

  • icp ms

ICP-MS is a powerful and very sensitive technique. As a result it is now one of the most important methods of trace analysis. Determinations are possible down to the ppb range.

    Examples of applications:
    • Trace and ultra-trace analysis of elements (e.g., Cr, Mn, Co in food additives)
    • Traces of metals in water
    • Traces of metals in body fluids (blood, urine, etc.)
