Clariant sets priority on

EMPLOYEE HEALTH

The coronavirus continues to spread across the globe. Clariant is taking its responsibility for its employees as well as stakeholders and partners along the value chain very seriously.

Therefore, Clariant has established a Global Emergency Management (GEM) team consisting of experts from Environment, Safety and Health Affairs (ESHA), Legal, Human Resources, Communications and the main business regions. The team ensures that any decisions and actions necessary to ensure the safety of our employees and limit the impact on our business are taken.

Clariant continues to monitor the global situation closely and strictly adheres to the recommendations of relevant international authorities (e.g. WHO, Robert Koch Institute) and the respective local authorities.

In response to current developments, the Clariant Global Emergency Management Organization is gradually easing the general home office recommendation for office workers. Depending on the infection toll, employees in some regions/countries may be allowed to return to their workplaces, strictly following a split office concept (A/B group shifts) and social distance and hygiene rules. Overall and where possible, employees are stimulated to work remotely, meetings are preferably held via online tools or telephone conferences and visits to and from customers or suppliers are not recommended.

Employees who work in production plants or in a laboratory are still needed on site and, hence, need to come to their regular workplace. For their safety, the company implemented additional actions like improved hygiene measures and possibilities for social distancing to eliminate the risk of infection in the workplace as far as possible. For employees who have to provide childcare due to the closure of schools and day-care facilities or who belong to a risk group due to previous illnesses, individual solutions will be agreed with the respective supervisors.

Clariant has imposed travel restrictions and banned business travel to certain risk areas. Employees are strongly advised not to travel privately to these areas. Entry from those risk areas is subject to local quarantine regulations. All other national and international business trips are limited to the absolute minimum and subject to a detailed assessment of necessity and case-by-case approval by the top management.

Clariant's employees are heavily engaged in keeping up production and services where possible while ensuring the quality our customers are used to and complying with safety and health procedures.

At most Clariant sites, operations are running normally. However, suppliers are kindly asked to check before departure if the respective Clariant location has announced special entry restrictions with regards to the travel history and/or country of origin.

•  Keep minimum distance of 2 meters (6 feet). If this cannot be maintained, wear a mask that cover mouth and nose.

•  Wash your hands thoroughly and frequently with water and soap for at least 20 seconds.

•  Carry hand sanitizer for use when soap and water are not readily available.

•  Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth as your hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses.

•  Avoid handshake.

•  Practice respiratory hygiene i.e. cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze - then dispose of the used tissue immediately.

•  Seek medical attention if you develop symptoms, especially fever or shortness of breath.
