It is a colourless liquid with a characteristic odour, pH approximately 7 at 20 °C, and is soluble in water. The product is stable under normal conditions, non-hazardous according to GHS, and biodegradable with no known hazards to humans or the environment when handled correctly.

Exolit OP 1230 Terra is a white, fine-grained powder based on an organic phosphinate. The product is non-hygroscopic and it is insoluble in water and organic solvents. Clariant’s Exolit OP flame retardants for polyamides are all based on aluminum diethyl-phosphinate (= DEPAL). The pure substance DEPAL is sold as Exolit OP 1230 and in combination with synergists as Exolit OP 13xx & Exolit OP 14xx types. Exolit OP 1230 is the first non-halogenated flame retardant which can withstand the demanding requirements of this high end segment of engineering plastics.
Exolit OP 1230 Terra is chemicially and from its composition equivalent to Exolit OP 1230, but comes with a mass balance certificate as for its production, renewable based Ethylene was sourced.
Therefore we assume that for Exolit OP Terra products no additional performance testing and qualification compared to the standard grade are necessary.

Exolit OP 1380 is a non-halogenated flame retardant based on organic phosphinates for reinforced polyamide 66 and polyamide 6. The product achieves its flame retardant effect through a combined gas phase and condensed phase mode of action. Compared to Exolit OP 1312, Exolit OP 1380 gives an improved performance in the glow wire ignition temperature (GWIT according to IEC 60695). Genapol PN 30 is a EO/PO block copolymer and used as a low foaming surfactant and lubricity improver in metal working fluids and metal cleaners. It is stable against hard water. Exolit™ OP 540 (TP) is a non-halogenated, reactive flame retardant and a brownish-clear liquid of medium viscosity. The product based on oligomeric organophosphates has a functionality of approx. 2. Exolit™ OP 540 (TP) is primarily suited for production of flame-retarded polyurethane polymers, such as foams or elastomers. The product is distinguished by a high flame retardancy and a high ageing resistance in its flame retardant effect. In addition is shows a high migration stability due to its chemical incorporation into the polymer matrix.
