Hair care is increasingly elaborate: consumers are adopting more and more multi-step haircare routines, reminiscent of the adoption of skincare routines seen over the last decade. More targeted applications such as scalp care are becoming available to form complete hair care routines.
This movement is driven by the adoption of at-home routines with salon-like performance, as well as the use of social media for education and experience-sharing. In addition, we see an increasing focus on routines as a wellness practice.
This “skinification of hair care” results in skincare ingredients as proof of performance, and overall demand for high performance and results with lasting impact – for example thicker, healthier hair. The trend towards targeted products and more personalized routines, for example supporting for hormonal changes, has seen an increase.
