High density polyethylene wax

Ceridust® 3610

Micronized high density polyethylene wax recommended for solvent and water based coatings and inks.

Ceridust 3610 is a finely micronized additive made from metallocene based high density polyethylene wax. It generates excellent rub resistance in various kinds of printing inks and lower the coefficient of friction for high slip effect.

With a D50 of 5 µm, the very fine particles keep a high gloss level and good clarity of the printed sheet and prevent pilling on rubber blankets.

Used in coatings, like e.g. for packaging applications, Ceridust 3610 creates excellent scratch resistance, slip effect and protection of the finished good. A balance of properties and performance makes Ceridust 3610 a good option for the substitution or reduction of PTFE in ink and coating systems.

Applications
Ceridust 3610 is recommended for solvent based coatings and inks as well as for pasty inks.

The narrow and fine particle size distribution provides an excellent rub resistance and a fast drying time in printing inks. Also the phenomenon of piling on the rubber blanket is noticeable reduced due to the fine particles.

It is also an additive for powder coatings to increase the output during extrusion process and to improve the flow ability of the powder. It also improves slip properties and enhances scratch resistance of the cured powder coating. In addition it is also used as a degassing agent to prevent pinhole formation.

In solvent based coatings the toughness of the micronized polyethylene creates an excellent scratch resistance together with high clarity and higher gloss levels compared to standard polyethylene grades.

Ceridust 3610 is a fine particle dispersing agent and is recommended for Polyolefin, like LLDPE, LDPE, MDPE, HDPE, etc. The micronized dispersing agent particles are close to the pigment particles and being almost statistically ideally distributed, show a high likeliness to find a place between pigment particles, thus separating them from each other. Consequently those pigment particles will not form agglomerates. The early melting behavior of micronized particles leads to a coating effect of the pigment particles and neutralizes the binding forces of pigment particles, prevents them from re-agglomeration, eases pigment dispersion and stabilizes the dispersion. A mixture of standard powder and Ceridust already improves the color strength as well as the filter pressure value.
