The advent of electric vehicles has resulted in a paradigm shift in both the area of transportation and from an environmental perspective. However, compared to internal combustion engines, electric vehicles pose new and severe fire risks so that adequate protection needs to be provided to the battery as well as peripherals. In this presentation, the importance of flame retardants for electric vehicles will be highlighted, with a focus on non-halogenated and sustainable solutions.
