Honoring outstanding scientific achievement

Clariant is committed to sharing its expertise and fostering activities that drive scientific innovation for a more sustainable world.

The Clariant CleanTech Award was introduced in 2012 to honor outstanding scientific achievement in the field of sustainable chemistry. Endowed with a total of CHF 15 000, the CleanTech Award is open to graduate students and researchers from Swiss universities covering topics such as resource efficiency, renewable raw materials, or green technologies and environmental protection. It is awarded at the company’s biennial Chemistry Day in Switzerland where scientists from academia and industry have a platform to showcase the results of different scientific research projects and jointly identify potential for value creation. CleanTech Award applicants are assessed by a committee comprised of representatives from Clariant, the University of Basel and the Swiss Chemical Society.

Explaining the idea behind the award and Chemistry Day, Clariant’s Chief Technology Officer Dr. Martin Vollmer said: “It is important to us that we actively promote knowledge sharing between students, researchers, and companies, and foster young talent with their research projects in the field of sustainable chemistry. Sustainable chemistry is a key enabler for innovation in various industrial sectors and also to tackle the technological challenges of our society.”
