      ADSORMAT® open-system desiccator plugs are mounted on the vent nozzles of drums, KTC/IBCs and tanks. ADSORMAT® dries the column of air above the product in the container, as well as any humid air subsequently flowing in through the vent nozzle as the container is emptied.   This prevents chemical reactions which may otherwise occur in a humid atmosphere.       Clariant's Container Dri® portfolio offers a broad line of container desiccants that offer versatile protection against damaging humidity and moisture during intermodal transport. Available in bags, poles and strips, these industry-leading products absorb up to three times their weight in moisture, and trap it as a thick gel that will not spill or drip. Preventing “Container Rain” A unique feature of Container Dri II desiccants is dew point control. Dew point is the temperature at which condensation starts to form on surfaces, such as container walls and roofs.     • DESI PAK® DESICCANT BAGS

      Highly active desiccant clay is filled in bags made of durable water vapor permeable films. As film materials non-wovens, composites and Tyvek® can be utilized, each according to valid regulations. Our DESI PAK®desiccant bags provide a simple, dependable and economical solution for preventing moisture damage in enclosed packages. Placed within a sealed package or container, DESI PAK® will protect any number of products, including semiconductors, electronics, cartons of food, or even large machinery. Desiccants reduce the humidity inside a closed packaging as soon as they are placed inside. The absorption capacity is dependent on the relative humidity (r.h.) of the surrounding air. Desiccants according to DIN or MIL specification exhibit an absorption capacity of at least 6 g moisture per unit at 23°C/ 40% r.h. AFNOR (NFH) specification defines a desiccant unit with 100g moisture absorption.       Oxy-Guard™ oxygen scavenging packets, also known as oxygen absorbers are a method of active packaging.  Clariant’s oxygen absorbers aid in maintaining freshness in packaged foods such as pet treats, processed and dried meats, meals ready to eat (MRE’s), packaged coffee and teas.  Shelf life of packaged foods is also prolonged by avoiding food degradation due to oxygen that can lead to the growth of microorganisms.  Foods with unsaturated fats and oils also benefit due to their highly susceptibility to oxidation.       Desi Pak® (Bentonite Clay): Moisture Adsorbent Clariant’s Desi Pak bentonite clay desiccants are an effective and economical desiccant option. A calcium-rich montmorillonite, Desi Pak’s layered structure attracts and binds water molecules to its vast inner and outer surface area. Even at full water vapor capacity, Desi Pak remains dry and free-flowing with no apparent change in size, shape or texture. The adsorption capacity of Desi Pak is considerable even at low humidity levels and increases as relative humidity rises. Desi Pak’s adsorption rate is high enough to prove effective for most applications at low humidity. At high humidity levels, Desi Pak adsorbs moisture much more slowly than silica gel or molecular sieve, making handling less problematic. Desi Pak’s adsorption capacity as a function of temperature remains constant at constant relative humidity between 20°C and 50°C (however the rate may vary). Desi Pak products can be reactivated for multiple uses. Sorb-It® (Silica Gel): Moisture Adsorbent Clariant’s Sorb-It desiccants are made of highly porous amorphous silicon dioxide. Sorb-It binds water molecules in random intersection channels of various diameters and remains dry and free flowing, even after fully saturated with water vapor. Sorb-It’s adsorption capacity is relatively small at low humidity levels but increases as humidity rises. At high humidity levels, Sorb-It adsorbs moisture faster than desiccant clay. Sorb-It products can be reactivated for multiple uses. Getter Pak® (Carbon): Odor and Gas Adsorbent Getter products are designed to control objectionable odors and gases within packaged products. Made of activated carbon, Getter has a highly porous structure and surface area that attracts and bonds with gases and volatile organic molecules. Tri-Sorb® (Molecular Sieve): Moisture and Odor/Gas Adsorbent Tri-Sorb molecular sieve desiccants are the most aggressive of Clariant’s desiccant options. Based on the synthetic zeolite (molecular sieve) types 3A, 4A and 13X, these zeolites exhibit crystalline structures with well-defined and uniform pores of 3Å, 4Å and 10Å diameters respectively. Tri-Sorb adsorbs water vapor and gas molecules that fit into the pores. The adsorption capacity of Tri-Sorb is relatively high at low humidity levels and remains almost constant as relative humidity increases. The adsorption rate is also high at high humidity levels, where Tri-Sorb accepts moisture much faster than Desi Pak, making handling more difficult. The adsorption capacity of Tri-Sorb as a function of temperature remains constant at constant relative humidity and absolute humidity between 20°C and 50°C (however the rate may vary). 2-in-1 Pak® (Carbon and Bentonite Clay or Silica Gel): Moisture and Odor/Gas Adsorbent Clariant’s 2-in-1 products combine activated carbon with either bentonite clay or silica gel to control moisture, gas and odors simultaneously. The adsorption capacity of Desi Pak is considerable even at low humidity levels and increases as relative humidity rises. Desi Pak’s adsorption rate is high enough to prove effective for most applications at low humidity. At high humidity levels, Desi Pak adsorbs moisture much more slowly than silica gel or molecular sieve, making handling less problematic. Desi Pak’s adsorption capacity as a function of temperature remains constant at constant relative humidity between 20°C and 50°C (however the rate may vary). Desi Pak products can be reactivated for multiple uses. Sorb-It® (Silica Gel): Moisture Adsorbent Clariant’s Sorb-It desiccants are made of highly porous amorphous silicon dioxide. Sorb-It binds water molecules in random intersection channels of various diameters and remains dry and free flowing, even after fully saturated with water vapor. Sorb-It’s adsorption capacity is relatively small at low humidity levels but increases as humidity rises. At high humidity levels, Sorb-It adsorbs moisture faster than desiccant clay. Sorb-It products can be reactivated for multiple uses. Getter Pak® (Carbon): Odor and Gas Adsorbent Getter products are designed to control objectionable odors and gases within packaged products. Made of activated carbon, Getter has a highly porous structure and surface area that attracts and bonds with gases and volatile organic molecules. Tri-Sorb® (Molecular Sieve): Moisture and Odor/Gas Adsorbent Tri-Sorb molecular sieve desiccants are the most aggressive of Clariant’s desiccant options. Based on the synthetic zeolite (molecular sieve) types 3A, 4A and 13X, these zeolites exhibit crystalline structures with well-defined and uniform pores of 3Å, 4Å and 10Å diameters respectively. Tri-Sorb adsorbs water vapor and gas molecules that fit into the pores. The adsorption capacity of Tri-Sorb is relatively high at low humidity levels and remains almost constant as relative humidity increases. The adsorption rate is also high at high humidity levels, where Tri-Sorb accepts moisture much faster than Desi Pak, making handling more difficult. The adsorption capacity of Tri-Sorb as a function of temperature remains constant at constant relative humidity and absolute humidity between 20°C and 50°C (however the rate may vary). 2-in-1 Pak® (Carbon and Bentonite Clay or Silica Gel): Moisture and Odor/Gas Adsorbent Clariant’s 2-in-1 products combine activated carbon with either bentonite clay or silica gel to control moisture, gas and odors simultaneously.       Oxygen Absorption Protection for Packaged Foods

      The presence of oxygen and moisture inside packaged food products can lead to a wide array of problems that ultimately result in food degradation, product loss and brand image. Both oxygen and moisture allow the formation and growth of aerobic microorganisms, such as bacteria, mold and fungi. When this happens, oils and fats in foods begin to turn rancid, leading to a change in color and an unpleasant odor. Additionally, foods can lose their vitamin and nutritional value once they are exposed to these oxidative conditions.

      To help our customers safely and efficiently protect their valuable products against such loss, Clariant offers Oxy-Guard™ Oxygen Scavengers, a line of customizable oxygen absorbers for food packaging. Rather than adding preservatives or additives directly to food products to prevent oxidation, our O2 absorber products allow the packaging to prevent oxidation, helping to meet consumers’ demands for more natural and preservative-free foods.

      Clariant offers Oxy-Guard absorbers in various sizes, as individual packets or continuous strip configurations for automatic insertion. Their high capacity for oxygen absorption helps to maintain oxygen levels of less than 0.01% inside sealed packages, and enables our customers to safely transport high-quality foods full of flavor, freshness and nutritional value.

      • OXY-GUARD™ OXYGEN SCAVENGERS

        Oxy-Guard™ oxygen scavenging packets, also known as oxygen absorbers are a method of active packaging.  Clariant’s oxygen absorbers aid in maintaining freshness in packaged foods such as pet treats, processed and dried meats, meals ready to eat (MRE’s), packaged coffee and teas.  Shelf life of packaged foods is also prolonged by avoiding food degradation due to oxygen that can lead to the growth of microorganisms.  Foods with unsaturated fats and oils also benefit due to their highly susceptibility to oxidation. A variety of sizes are available as either individual packets, or for automatic insertion, Oxy-Guard™ oxygen scavengers are also available as a continuous strip.
