Muttenz, October 14, 2014 - Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, really will deliver on its Fakuma 2014 promise of "Bringing life to plastics and plastics to life through value creating and innovative products", at this year's event. To mark the official European launch of Clariant s liquid revolution HiFormer®, Clariant is offering visitors water packaged in eye-catching PET bottles created through its innovative HiFormer system for liquid masterbatches.

"HiFormer is all about working together as strategic partners to find the perfect mix of idea, concept, material and production for consumer goods and packaging," comments Markus Mirgeler, Regional Head Europe, BU Masterbatches. "By providing an overall solution encompassing product, technology and consultancy, Clariant can help customers to be creative in design, and more efficient, flexible and energy-saving in production, to get the brilliant results they are looking for."

Get ready for a liquid revolution - HiFormer is Clariant’s new integrated system for liquid masterbatches designed to enhance product properties and process parameters for customers and fulfill their international service needs. HiFormer Liquid Masterbatches contain Clariant’s new Liquid Vehicle Technology. The liquid masterbatches are available in a wide variety of colors, and are highly concentrated to achieve brilliant, vibrant hues. The need for less product, in combination with lower processing temperatures and therefore faster processing, improves efficiency and productivity, and reduces energy use and scrap generation. Smaller lot sizes also add to production flexibility.

Adding to Clariant’s focus on sustainable, complete solutions will be masterbatch innovations aimed at the challenges of environmental protection, manufacturing efficiency and developing safer, reliable products. Plastics processors visiting Booth #B2-2218 can look forward to Hydrocerol® chemical foaming agents that support weight reduction and lower emissions in the automotive industry, cost-effective solutions for premium color effects and metal effects substitution, and unique UL94 compliant color masterbatches.

Hydrocerol for lighter weight thermoplastic vehicle components and improved productivity. Hydrocerol chemical foaming agents create a finer, more durable foam-cell structure for automotive interior and exterior plastics that allows manufacturers to achieve component weight reduction of up to 20%, with no difference to surface appearance or performance. With Hydrocerol, OEMs and Tier Ones benefit from cost reduction due to the use of less material, while productivity can be increased by as much as 20% through faster production speeds. Hydrocerol masterbatches are easy to incorporate into existing processes, and protect machines by neutralizing moisture.

Boosting efficiency with color effects and metal effects substitution. Clariant’s masterbatch formulations for molded-in plastic parts offer premium aesthetics while optimizing costs. Together with Clariant’s global ColorWorks network, customers have no limits in finding the perfect color or metallic effect for a product. By integrating the color into the plastic at the molding stage, it is possible to achieve a long-lasting, high quality color and finish that does not scratch or peel, without the need for a painting step. The result is efficient, faster production and less waste. Clariant’s color masterbatches are VOC-free, and promote easy recycling and less energy use.

Keeping color safe and reliable with 100% UL94-compliant colors. Clariant’s UL-94 (Underwriters Laboratory) compliant masterbatches ensure full protection against fire hazards while being fully compliant with regulatory standards. Using pre-approved, UL-94 listed colors helps to support the cost-effective, flexible and rapid development of products that require UL-94 approval.
