Other applications

Our Antifrogen® fluids and cooling brines keep installations running efficiently and safely in often the most unexpected places:

from sprinkler systems, under-soil heating systems and ice arenas to ground freezing for tunnel construction and leak detection in storage tanks For these special applications, Antifrogen is the right fluid.

The frost resistance of our Antifrogen fluid on basis of monoethylene glycol (MEG) remains stable for years. Did you know that every discipline on ice, e.g. curling or speed skating, demands a different temperature to craft the perfect ice surface1? The fluid ensures the achievement of a constant ice temperature regardless of the skating discipline in ice stadiums.

It is less well known that our MEG-based fluid is approved by the German Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (www.bam.de) as a leakage detection fluid for use in double walled tanks for above- and over-ground storage of oil, petrol, waste matter and hazardous materials.

Additionally, emphasizing further the safety aspects, our fluids provide the ultimate frost and corrosion protection for sprinkler systems installed as fire protection in commercial and residential buildings. Antifrogen L, which is based on monopropylene glycol, was the first antifreeze to receive an official approval from VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH (www.vds.de) for use in stationary water extinguishing systems that can be found anywhere from multi-storey car parks to warehouses and exhibition halls.

We also offer a low-viscosity, deep temperature brine based on potassium formate which offers maximum corrosion protection even up to + 80 °C in closed systems and is used, for example, the century-old construction technique of artificial ground freezing. The refrigerated brine extracts heat from the ground and converts the soil pore water into ice, stabilizing the soil and rendering it water impermeable2.

Products

  • Antifrogen® N
Antifrogen® N is a liquid, tinted pale yellow, for use as a heat transfer medium in closed hot water heating systems, heat pumps and as cooling brine in industrial refrigeration equipment. Antifrogen® N is not suitable for the use in food or pharmaceutical applications. Alternatively, the use of Antifrogen® L is recommended. The product is inhibited without the use of nitrites-, amines-, borates-, silicates- and phosphates. The optimization of the corrosion inhibition system was performed without the use of CMR-substances (cancerogenic, mutagenic, reprotoxic). • Antifrogen® L
Antifrogen® L is a clear liquid, tinted blue, for use as a heat transfer medium in heat pump systems and in the food industry, e.g. in breweries, dairies, ice-cream factories, cold stores and fish processing factories. The product is inhibited without the use of nitrites-, amines-, borates-, silicates- and phosphates. The optimization of the corrosion inhibition system was performed without the use of CMR-substances (cancerogenic, mutagenic, reprotoxic). • Antifrogen® KF
Antifrogen KF is a non-toxic clear liquid, based on an aqueous formate solution which is used as a low-temperature brine down to -50 °C in industrial and food refrigeration systems. The brine adjusted for reliable protection against freezing is inhibited with non-toxic corrosion inhibitors and is nitrite, amine and borate-free.Read more about Clariant Heat Transfer Fluids Find a distributor

  • Leak Indicator-Clariant
Leak Indicator-Clariant is a liquid, tinted green, for use as a leak-detection-fluid after mixing with water for double-walled tanks. The product is inhibited without the use of nitrites-, amines-, borates-, silicates- and phosphates. The optimization of the corrosion inhibition system was performed without the use of CMR-substances (cancerogenic, mutagenic, reprotoxic).
