Corrosion inhibitors for emulsion-type metalworking fluids
Driven by the demand to reduce weight in order to increase energy and fuel efficiency, lightweight materials such as aluminum alloys, magnesium, titanium and high strength steel are becoming increasingly important in many industries. In the automotive industry for instance the use of light metals is expected to grow from approximately 30% to almost 70% in the next two decades.
In spite of all these changes, traditional ferrous metals such as steel are continuously produced and machined. Copper or cobalt will also remain. Coping with different metals that are present in the workpiece and in the tools is no easy task for a metalworking fluid. As a key supplier to lubricant formulators, we understand our customers’ increasing need for specialized components and formulation support, especially for aluminum cutting fluids. Effective corrosion inhibitors that protect both steel and aluminum while reducing copper and cobalt leaching help metalworking fluid formulators to address today’s formulation challenges.
Our portfolio comprises water-soluble and water-dispersible products for formulating semi-synthetic and milky emulsions. Excellent anticorrosion results can also be achieved under difficult conditions.
Corrosion inhibitors for fully synthetic metalworking fluids
Our Hostacor® I product family of corrosion inhibitors for fully synthetic MWFs gives fluid makers a choice over how much freedom they desire when formulating their designs. Two of our corrosion inhibitors are completely label free.

The Hostacor® I chemistry boosts protection, lubricity and hard water stability.
Additionally, we recommend combining it with PAGs such as Genapol PN 30 as it creates a synergistic lubrication effect on aluminum with a better lubricity at low pH.
