Genapol Pure Power is a multifunctional rinse surfactant from Clariant for automatic dishwashing tablets and pouches. It is designed to combine drying, shine, rinse performance and machine-cleanliness benefits in one ingredient.

Genapol Pure Power helps reduce fatty residue build-up inside dishwashers, including on the machine filter. This is increasingly relevant as modern dishwashers use less water and energy, and as consumers make greater use of eco, short and lower-temperature programs .

It helps formulators combine several performance benefits in one surfactant solution: machine cleanliness, reduced fatty residues, drying, shine and rinse performance. This makes it suitable for multifunctional automatic dishwashing tablets and pouches. Due to it’s waxy nature, it additionally acts as a binder and doesn’t limit formulators in the use level compared to liquid surfactants.

Genapol Pure Power has been tested in relevant modern automatic dishwashing programs such as eco programs, or short cycle programs like the glass program, including Eco 50 and Eco 50 SpeedPerfect+ conditions. These programs are important because of resource-friendly washing conditions like lower temperatures, shorter cycle times and reduced water use, that can make fatty residue management more difficult.

Modern dishwashers are designed to use less water and energy. At the same time, many consumers choose eco or short programs. These changes reduce the time, water and thermal energy available to remove fatty food residues, which can increase residue build-up inside the machine. Considering the Sinner circle, modern dishwasher programs significantly reduce time and temperature in a cycle. To maintain cleaning performance, those losses have to be compensated byother elements in the Sinner circle – and here chemistry and Genapol Pure Power come in.

Traditional multifunctional rinse surfactants are typically selected for drying, wetting and shine performance. Genapol Pure Power adds a strong machine-cleanliness and filter-protection benefit, helping reduce fatty residue build-up while maintaining high drying and rinse performance.

Clariant tested Genapol Pure Power in household dishwashing machines under hard water conditions of 21 +/- 1 °dH. Tests used phosphate-free automatic dishwashing powder formulations and standardized ballast soil containing fat, egg and starch.

Performance testing included common automatic dishwashing materials such as glass, plastic, porcelain and stainless steel. These materials are important because consumers expect good drying and shine across mixed dishwasher loads, including difficult-to-dry plastics.

Plastic items are often more difficult to dry than glass, porcelain or stainless steel. A surfactant that supports better plastic drying can help improve the consumer experience, especially in eco and lower-temperature programs.

Genapol Pure Power is suitable for automatic dishwashing tablets and pouches, particularly multifunctional formats that combine cleaning, rinse-aid, drying, shine and machine-care benefits. It can also be used in traditional rinse aids.
