High molecular weight polyethylene glycols (PEGs) and fatty alcohol ethoxylates are among the most widely used binder chemistries in detergent formulations. Both are a core area of Clariant's expertise, available across two dedicated product ranges.
Genapol™ T range: specialized binders for complex formulations
The Genapol™ T range consists of solid nonionic surfactants based on fatty alcohol ethoxylates. These specialized binders are well suited for binding of tablets and compacts like rim blocks, carrier for coatings or processing aids, e.g. for granulation processes. Grades within the range also function as emulsifiers, dispersing agents, and solubilizers, and are hard water tolerant and compatible with cationic formulations.
Polyglykol range: water-soluble carriers and binders
The Polyglykol range covers high molecular weight PEGs that act as water-soluble carriers and binders in solid detergent formats. They are used in the molding of detergent blocks, dishwashing and laundry tablets, and multi-phase products. Their ready water solubility supports correct disintegration and active release during use.
