GS: Germany

What is your job title?
GS: Electrical maintenance manager

What does that really mean in your daily work life?
GS: I work with all kinds of electrical devices in a chemical plant. I repair, change or bring new things to life.

What does an average day look like?
GS: I look into electric issues that arise in our production plants and solve them. Systems controlling is another important part of my daily work.

How long have you been working at Clariant?
GS: I’ve been working at Clariant for 18 years.

What do you like doing on weekends? 
GS: I like to do sports like biking or just working out, and I also like to take short day trips around my area.

How do you feel about working at Clariant?
GS: I love that no day looks the same and that my colleagues really feel like my second family.

What's your favorite dish to cook?
GS: I love to make this pasta dish where I add bacon bits and my special homemade cheesy cream sauce.

What is your favorite holiday destination ever?
GS: The best place I’ve ever been to is the North Cape in Norway.

Tell us about your favorite scientist or your favorite invention.
GS: Electricity. This revolutionary power is to me, the best invention ever.

GS: Friendly, balanced, helpful

What have you been most proud of doing at Clariant?
GS: I’m proud of helping to build the first production plant dedicated to our flame retardant Exolit OP 1230.

How do you think your specific work makes an impact on Clariant?
GS: I think my job is important because without electrical support there is no production.

In one sentence, what’s the best thing about your job?
GS: I love to repair things and enable the production flow.

What's a little-known fact about you?
GS: I try to be happy everyday…. Laughing really makes the day easier.

What is your favorite Clariant product and why?
GS: Exolit OP 1230 (DEPAL) is my favorite product. This flame retardant prevents or delays the development and spread of fires in various ways.

You’ve been sent on a mission to Mars for 3 whole years. What 3 things would you absolutely want to bring with you?
GS: I would bring my swiss army knife, my laptop, and my camera.
