Hostastat HS 1 FF is incorporated into plastics to reduce the negative effects of electrostatic charge accumulation such as dust attraction, static discharge and splashing of printing inks. During the processing of thermoplastics, Hostastat HS 1 FF acts as a flow promoting lubricant and release agent.
Hostastat HS 1 FF is preferably used as an internal antistatic agent for polar plastics, such as PVC and styrenics. Where incorporation into the polymer is not possible, it can be applied externally to the surface of the finished article by spraying or dipping. Therefore it is normally used in the form of a 1 % aqueous solution in conjunction with 0,1 % of a suitable surface-acting alcohol, such as Mowiol© 10 – 74.
