Light stabilizer for coatings and plastic materials

Hostavin™ 3050 LIQ

Hostavin 3050 LIQ  is a low molecular weight hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS) that provides efficient light stability in thick and thin plastic sections, and protects solventborne coatings from the adverse effects from UV radiations. It is characterized by its excellent solubility, broad compatibility, low volatility and migration resistance.

Benefits
  • Solventborne Coating: Excellent for UV stabilization of 2K-PUR systems (LS, MS, HS)
  • Solventborne Coating: Low volatility during stoving
  • Solventborne Coating: Easy to dissolve
  • Solventborne Coating: Reduced self-color

Hazards
Classification according CLP regulation (Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008, as amended)
    Skin irritation, Cat. 2
Long-term (chronic) aquatic hazard, Cat. 2
For further information please refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet.

Hostavin 3050 LIQ can be used in solventborne and solventless coatings. Depending on the requested UV stabilization, the addition rate should be in the range of 1.0 to 3.0%, calculated in active UV stabilizer on solid binder content. As a non-substituted HALS, Hostavin 3050 LIQ is slightly basic and may have an influence on the crosslinking of binders. In such a case, it is recommended to use Hostavin 3058 LIQ as a suitable alternative.

In addition, for an optimized UV stabilization of clearcoats, it is recommended to combine Hostavin 3050 LIQ with a UV absorber, e.g. Hostavin 3206 LIQ or Hostavin 3400 LIQ.

Hostavin 3050 LIQ is recommended for the stabilization of PMMA, PUR, polyolefins and styrenics. In styrenics, it is preferably used in combination with UV absorbers.

Delivery form

Tends sometimes toward crystallization which has no influence on efficiency.

Packaging
Steel drums 50 kg
Pallet 400 kg (8 drums)
Steel drums 200 kg
Pallet 800 kg (4 drums)

Storage
For best shelf life store this product at room temperature in well-aired locations.
The product tends to solidify at lower temperatures, which has no effect on its efficiency.
The solidified product becomes liquid again by heating for several hours at temperatures around 50°C.
Minimum shelf life is five years from the date of shipping when properly stored, in its original sealed containers.
