ReforMax™ 420 ATR is an extremely robust guard catalyst used in oxygen-fed autothermal reformers for syngas production. The catalyst acts as a heat shield, decreasing the catalyst bed temperature, which prevents evaporation of alumina from the top layer and its re-condensation further down the bed.
Oxygen-fed autothermal reforming requires a mixed load of catalysts consisting of approximately 5-10% ReforMax 420 ATR on top of ReforMax 330 ATR.
