ShiftGuard™ 100 is a ring-shaped, inert guard material based on high temperature fired alumina, which offers superior strength and surface area to effectively protect HTS (high temperature shift) catalysts, such as ShiftMax™ 120 and ShiftMax 120 HCF, from upstream waste heat boiler leakages.
Typically, a layer of 5-10% ShiftGuard 100 is installed on top of the main HTS catalyst bed to protect it from foreign material, such as dust, water droplets or salts. The guard material also inhibits the formation of a crusted layer on the catalyst bed, and prevents crushing of downstream catalysts.
