Sustainable and environmentally friendly  PVC stabilizers: SORBACID hydrotalcites by Clariant Functional Minerals

SORBACID hydrotalcites create new opportunities in the processing and manufacturing of flexible, rigid and transparent PVC products. Window profiles, high temperatures cables, coated wires, pipes and a variety of other PVC products are already being stabilized using SORBACID, thus contributing to a safe and sustainable future of PVC. SORBACID works best in conjunction with Ca/Zn stabilizer systems creating an environmentally friendly, non-toxic and heavy-metal free alternative for PVC stabilization.

  • SORBACID™ complies with the standard requirements for safety and handling in compounding and processing facilities.
  • SORBACID™ promotes excellent thermal stability and colour hold.
  • SORBACID™ can be well dispersed in PVC due to its small particle size, low BET-surface and special surface modification.
  • SORBACID™ has a refractive index close to that of PVC. Therefore, it is suitable for use in transparent applications.
  • SORBACID™ does not impact the rheological properties of PVC. The plate-out behaviour is negligible.
  • SORBACID™ is highly recommended for wire and cable applications, as it shows excellent high temperature insulting properties and low water carry-over in addition.
