Ben van Beurden

Ben van Beurden studied chemical engineering at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands before starting his career at Shell in 1983. During his 40-year tenure at Shell, he held various operational and commercial positions across multiple countries, including the Netherlands, Turkey, Malaysia, the UK, and the USA. In 2006, he took leadership of Shell's Chemicals division. From 2014 to 2022, van Beurden served as CEO of Shell, where he led the company through significant strategic developments, including the implementation of Shell's net-zero strategy. On April 1, 2025, he was elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Clariant Ltd.
