Next-generation antioxidant for polyolefins: AddWorks™ LXR 548
Traditional phenolic antioxidants have long protected polypropylene medical devices during manufacturing and use. However, increasing regulatory pressure addresses concerns that these compounds can decompose during sterilization, potentially migrating from plastics into sensitive applications, raising safety questions for sensitive medical applications.
Clariant's new AddWorks LXR 548 is a breakthrough phenol-free antioxidant that matches the performance of traditional phenolic systems. Specifically developed for sensitive medical, hygiene, pharmaceutical and sterilization-resistant applications, this innovative stabilizer effectively reduces yellowing in polyolefin parts, maintaining excellent color stability even after gamma radiation and thermal treatment.
