The Clariant Foundation is an independently-managed, purely philanthropic non-profit organization, established in October 2014. The Foundation is based in Switzerland and supports organizations and projects across the globe.
Mission
The Clariant Foundation carries out projects, and supports and funds ideas, organizations, and institutions with a specific focus on underprivileged children and teenagers. Its work supplements the many corporate citizenship and volunteering activities undertaken by Clariant Specialty Chemicals and its employees each year in the local communities in which the Group operates.

Organization
The Clariant Foundation’s work is steered by a Board represented by Conrad Keijzer (Chairman), Günter von Au (Vice Chairman), Judith Bischof and Bettina A. Siggelkow.
The Board meets four times a year and jointly makes decisions about the applications in accordance with the mission of the Foundation. Pressing cases are decided on an extraordinary basis.
Governance
Since 2014, the Clariant Foundation committed to numerous projects and organizations around the globe with funding. The contributions provided by the Clariant Foundation are funded by an initial private donation from Clariant’s then-CEO and former Chairman of the Board of Directors Hariolf Kottmann and yearly contributions by Clariant International Ltd.
Clariant Foundation is member of proFonds, the umbrella organization of charitable foundations in Switzerland managing organizations (including foundations and associations) as well as individuals.
Clariant Foundation commits to best practice governance in line with the principles and recommendations of the Swiss Foundation Code. Our activities are supervised by the federal supervisor authority in Switzerland (Eidgenössische Stiftungsaufsicht). Administrative support is provided by TREUCO AG in Zurich, Switzerland.

Application requirements
Please note that the submission of an application does not guarantee funding. Once an application has been submitted, applicants can expect a confirmation within due time. A valid application must include following aspects: Summary of the organization, contact information, specification and purpose of the project / program that needs funding, total costs for its realization, amount sought from the Foundation. The Clariant Foundation accepts only applications from recognized institutions and not from private individuals.
Projects will be preselected by the Foundation’s managing office, following consideration with regards to their adherence with the Foundation’s scope. Applicants not in scope will be notified in writing.
The final review and decisions are then taken by the Board (see ‘Organization’).
