Clariant to offer Beracas natural cosmetic ingredients in the DACH region

Personal Care Europe

  • Beraca is a leading provider of natural and organic certified ingredients sustainably drawn from Brazil's biodiversity
  • Partnership enhances Clariant's sustainability focus and portfolio of natural origin Plantasens® ingredients
  • Customers to benefit from CRM International's technical expertise and Clariant sales support
Muttenz, March 1, 2016 – Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, is extending its portfolio of cosmetics ingredients for customers in Austria, Germany and Switzerland with Beraca's natural ingredients from the Amazon Rainforest. As of April 1, 2016, CRM International – a Clariant Group company – will distribute Beraca's cosmetic portfolio in the D-A-CH region.

Clariant, through CRM International, offers its innovative Plantasens® range of natural ingredients including plant-based actives, multi-functional emulsifiers, and a broad selection of emollients, ranging from vegetable oils and natural butters to alternatives to silicones, petrolatum and lanolin.

The addition of Beraca's world-wide known portfolio of active performance systems, fixed and essential oils, clays, butters and bioscrubs - sustainably harvested from Brazilian biomes – will give customers in the region access to a complete portfolio of natural ingredients to support their development of sustainable formulations for the cosmetics and personal care markets.

Beraca's portfolio mainly comprises natural oils and butters from the Amazonian region, such as Açai, Brazil Nut and Cupuaçu butter and also includes natural active ingredients for skin and hair.

Boris Segalowitch, Head of Personal Care in Europe, Business Unit industrial & Consumer Specialties at Clariant, comments: "Beraca's sustainable, ethically -sourced high performance products with proven efficacy perfectly complement our natural-origin Plantasens range and reinforce Clariant's commitment to offering more sustainable solutions to the German-speaking market."

Daniel Sabará, CEO of Beraca adds: "This is an exciting step in our new alliance with Clariant. Beraca has long been committed to social and environmental sustainability, and to preserving biodiversity, and we have received several awards in recognition of this. We are pleased to support Clariant's customers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with access to a now broader portfolio of such sustainable innovations."
