Polypropylene wax

Ceridust® 6050 M

Micronized metallocene based polypropylene wax for powder & wood coatings.

Used in powder coatings, Ceridust 6050 M offers interesting properties, including the combination of excellent degassing with a strong matting effect while keeping very good adhesion performance. It also increases the coefficient of friction (anti slip) and enhances scratch resistance. In contrast to amide wax based degassing aids, Ceridust 6050 M improves adhesion properties of the surface e.g. for sealants.

Ceridust 6050 M is furthermore a highly effective additive for various liquid lacquers including wood coatings. It is a very strong matting agent that at the same time provides excellent scratch resistance. It is easy dispersible and very stable especially in solvent based systems.

Applications
Ceridust 6050 M is recommended for solvent based and powder coatings.

In solvent based coatings the micronized polypropylene creates an excellent scratch resistance. The very strong matting effect makes the Ceridust 6050 M to a very effective matting agent.

In powder coatings it acts as a degassing agent. It also increases the coefficient of friction (anti slip), enhances scratch resistance and reduces gloss of the cured powder coating. Unlike Amide waxes which may decrease adhesion properties, Ceridust 6050 M improves the adhesion of subsequently applied coatings or sealants without compromising degassing properties.

Ceridust 6050 M is a fine particle dispersing agent and is recommended for Polyropylene –especially film and fiber application. The micronized dispersing agent particles are close to the pigment particles and being almost statistically ideally distributed, show a high likeliness to find a place between pigment particles, thus separating them from each other. Consequently those pigment particles will not form agglomerates. The early melting behavior of micronized particles leads to a coating effect of the pigment particles and neutralizes the binding forces of pigment particles, prevents them from re-agglomeration, eases pigment dispersion and stabilizes the dispersion. A mixture of standard powder and Ceridust already improves the color strength as well as the filter pressure value.

Ceridust 6050 M is used as dispersing agent for hard-to-disperse PP pigment masterbatches, especially for high demanding applications like e.g. fibers
