ACS symposium on circular economy of polymers

PRESENTATION: DECONTAMINATION OF PYROLYSIS OIL ALLOW ITS USE FOR NEW POLYMER PRODUCTION

The pyrolysis process offers a good complementary solution to mechanical recycling for treating the remaining plastic waste.

The output of the process is pyrolysis oils that are often intended to be used as cracker feedstock. Due to the nature of the plastic waste used as feedstock in the thermochemical process, pyrolysis oils often contain high amounts of contaminants. Significant amounts of metals, chlorides, sulphur or other contaminants in pyrolysis oils reduce their ability as cracker feedstock.

Clariant has developed different products and solutions to remove these contaminants. By applying these, the pyrolysis oil can be enhanced to make it fit for purpose.

Join our expert Vinicius Ribeiro Celinski in a virtual, half an hour session at the ACS symposium to find out hown our solution can help you in your process. This solution is part of the company´s EcoCircle Initiative, enabling the industry to transition towards a circular plastic value chain.

  • Advancing plastics recycling
One of the most important Sustainable Development Goals the international community pursues concerns better handling of resources and waste. New methods of plastics recycling, often called advanced recycling, can substantially contribute – and so can Clariant by improving their chemistry.
