Waterborne Coatings: Improving Weathering Resistance, Touch Feel and Scratch Resistance
As we experienced an increased market demand for improved outdoor durability waterbased coatings as well as enhanced surface effects, Clariant Innovation team has developed novel additives to meet those market unmet needs. These state-of-the-art renewable-based additives represent best in class solutions for the formulation of more sustainable coatings combined with outstanding performance.
Commercially available synthetic waxes already play an important role for different kinds of variations, such as scratch resistance, modification of slip properties, matting effects and more. Among those novel additives, Clariant has recently developed micronized waxes based on renewable sources, which will be shown to provide enhanced performance benefits vs traditional waxes, while also remaining cost competitive.
The novel additives to be presented will enable formulators to offer smooth surfaces with the pleasant feel of waterbased coatings while exhibiting outstanding excellent scratch resistance, high matting efficiency and improved weathering performance.
