Clariant OMS Welcomes Fertilizer Additives Business Development Chemist to BL Mining

Please join me in welcoming Brandi Makin to the Clariant Mining Solutions team in The Woodlands, Texas. As Fertilizer Additives Business Development Chemist, Brandi will support Clariant’s global growth in fertilizer additives, reporting to Dr. Pablo Dopico, Global Business Development Manager for Fertilizer Additives and Industrial Minerals.

Brandi will focus on expanding Clariant’s business in fertilizer additives, both through growing the portfolio of products available for global applications and by increasing our ability to serve the important North American fertilizer market with a local presence. To accomplish this, fertilizer additives testing capabilities are being added to the new global headquarters facility in The Woodlands.

Prior to joining Clariant, Brandi was a Research and Development Chemist at Koch Agronomic Services in Atlanta, GA. At Koch, Brandi supported the Agrotain® line of fertilizer additives that control nitrogen loss from urea and UAN fertilizers.

Brandi holds a Bachelors of Science degree in chemistry from the University of South Carolina, where she also minored in biology and served as an academic tutor in calculus, physics and organic chemistry. In her time there, Brandi also received numerous academic awards and performed research on the use of assembled nanoparticles for delivery of drugs to fight Alzheimer’s disease.
