Clariant expands its ethoxylation plant in Daya Bay, China
- Capacity expansion to 100,000 tons per annum
- More comprehensive product offerings to better serve regional market
Shanghai, January 10, 2014 – Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, announced today the expansion of its ethoxylation plant in Daya Bay, Huizhou, China. As the first ethoxylation production site under Clariant Business Unit Industrial and Consumer Specialty (BU ICS) in Asia, the Daya bay plant was put into operation in 2011 with the initial capacity of 50,000 tons annually. Upon completion of expansion, the total capacity of the plant will reach 100,000 tons per annum.
In addition to boosting the existing productivity, new products will be produced in the Daya Bay plant after expansion to meet the rapidly growing demand in China and other Asian markets.
“The expansion of the Daya Bay plant will allow us to better serve our customers from the industrial and consumer care markets with more comprehensive products and solutions,” says Christian Vang, Regional Head of Business Unit Industrial and Consumer Specialty Asia Pacific, Clariant.
Equipped with laboratories for quality control and analysis, the Daya bay plant allows customers to be involved at an early stage of product development. Prototype production and application testing can be efficiently coordinated to develop tailor-made solutions. The integration of the labs in the plant facilitates a fast transfer of the developments to the production stage, saving customers enormous amount of time to market.
“We have the ambition to significantly increase our presence in China – one of the fastest-growing chemical markets in the world – and this new investment is an important step towards realizing this goal,” says Jan Kreibaum, Clariant’s Regional Head of Greater China.
