Clariant to Exhibit at CPHI China 2014 with Industry Leading Packaging Solutions
Shanghai, 16 May 2014 - Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, is featuring its line of pharmaceutical packaging solutions at the CPhI China 2014 exhibition to be staged at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Center from 26 to 28 June. CPhI is the leading exhibition in Asia dedicated to the global pharmaceutical industry. This year over 30,000 visitors from 100 countries are expected to visit the 3-day show in China. Clariant will be exhibiting at stand N1B32 at CPhI this year.

In particular, Clariant is going to present at CPhI its line of Integrated Desiccant Closure (IDC®) product solutions, which was launched in the Greater China region in Q4 2013.
The Integrated Desiccant Closure (IDC®) optimizes packaging efficiencies by providing multiple functions in a single pharmaceutical closure. The IDC integrates tamper-evident, child-resistant and twist-off cap functions into one fully customizable screw-cap or snap-cap closure system. By eliminating the extra step of incorporating an extraneous desiccant into the packaging system, customers save time and money and help make their products even safer.
Ultrasonic technology desiccant packets
Another featured product at the CPhI exhibition from Clariant will be the Ultrasonic technology desiccant packets. In China, paper packets are commonly used for containing desiccant, which could be torn easily causing leakage of the desiccant and therefore safety hazards. In order to solve the problem, Clariant pioneered the use of Tyvek material in place of paper in desiccant packets. The high density of polyethylene effectively enhances protection on the packet, while allowing air to pass through. To avoid contamination of the medicine, instead of heat, ultrasound is used to seal the desiccant packets, which also eliminates the use of glue in the process. The technology has won Clariant an award from CNPPA (China National Pharmaceutical Packaging Association) in April 2014.
In addition, Clariant will also showcase its customizable sorbent systems and multilayer protective packaging that guard against major pathways to drug degradation and help maintain product stability and potency.
