Clariant Oil Services to make significant technical contributions at the 2015 NACE CORROSION Conference
- Two papers to be presented on oil field oxygen corrosion and one on pitting corrosion
- Workshops on scale, hydrate and corrosion
- Clariant to vice-chair two symposiums
Kicking-off the conference on Sunday, March 15, Dr. Nihal Obeyesekere, Global Integrity Manager, Clariant Oil Services, will host a workshop during the Flow Assurance in Oil and Gas Production: Information Exchange session from 8 a.m. to noon. Workshop topics include scale, hydrate and corrosion issues for onshore and deepwater applications. Additionally, Obeyesekere will host a sour corrosion workshop from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. during the Oil and Gas Production, Sour Corrosion: Information Exchange Symposium. Both workshops will be held in room 167.
The symposium called, "Recent Experiences with Nickel, Titanium, Zirconium and other Corrosion Resistant Alloys", will be held on Monday, March 16, in room 161. This event will feature Clariant's Jin Huang, Subsurface Account Manager, Integrity, presenting, "Study of Pitting Corrosion of Corrosion Resistant Alloys at Extreme High Temperature Using Electrochemical Measurements." Additionally, Huang will chair two symposiums on Thursday, March 19: Flow Assurance in Oil and Gas Production for Inland and Subsea, held in room 140; and Oil and Gas Production – Cathodic Protection, held in room 156.
Clariant Senior Chemist, Omar Yepez, , will give a two-part presentation on Tuesday, March 17, in room 140. Both talks will focus on the "Development of Novel Phosphate Based Inhibitors Effective for Oxygen Corrosion." Part 1 will cover the "Rotating Cage Autoclave Study" and part 2 will cover "Electrochemical Characterization."
Clariant Oil Services invites 2015 CORROSION attendees to join these workshops and symposiums.
