Packaging and Paper Plastics and Polymers Performance Additives Greater China

  • Closer collaboration formed to see the two companies become strategic partners in promoting additives and liquid feeding technology for BOPP industry in China
  • The cooperation will help the whole BOPP industry in China to upgrade production technology, improve product quality and save material costs
Shanghai, March 27, 2017 – Clariant, a world-leader in specialty chemicals, is stepping up its collaboration with one of the biggest BOPP manufacturers in the world - the Gettel High-Tech Materials Co., Ltd in China to jointly promote additives and liquid feeding technology in BOPP industry in China. While Gettel will continue to leverage Clariant's solutions that include the antistatic additive Hostastat® FA 68 combined with liquid feeding technology and AddWorks® LXR 408, Clariant will find better distribution of its new technologies and products.

Gettel High-Tech Materials Co., Ltd, headquartered in Wenzhou of China, is a leading BOPP manufacturer in the world with BOPP production capacity of 600,000 tons per year. These include BOPP films such as adhesive tape film, matt film, heat sealable film, lamination film and film for bag making and laser labels.

"As a close business partner of Clariant, we recognize the great values that their additive solutions are bringing us in BOPP film production. With the strategic partnership we are forming, we've decided to equip all of our production lines with Clariant's liquid feeding technology and additive products. I hope our collaboration will help drive together even more benefits between our products and capabilities and to extend these benefits further to the whole BOPP industry in China," said Fang Wenbing, President of Gettel High-Tech Materials Co., Ltd.

Clariant's total solution approach, which includes the Hostastat FA 68 antistatic agent combined with liquid feeding technology, demonstrates excellent antistatic performance for film products while significantly reducing the production cost. In addition it generates reduced levels of volatiles during production, significantly reducing oil stains on the film.

"I'm excited to see a strategic partnership being formed between Gettel and Clariant on BOPP manufacturing. With this cooperation and our additive solutions, we hope to help the whole BOPP industry in China to upgrade its production technology, improve product quality and save material costs," said Frank Liu, Business Development Manager Asia Pacific, Clariant's Additive Business Unit.
