Clariant expands support for local NORAM Oil Services customers
Muttenz, September 6, 2017 – Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, announces a low single-digit million amount investment to strengthen two of its North American Oil Services sites in order to further support customer growth in key oil basins.
These investments upgrade facilities at the Midland, Texas and Clinton, Oklahoma sites and follow the acquisitions of Kel-Tech and X-Chem, which were completed in October 2016. With the consolidation of the three businesses, customers will benefit from enhanced product and service support, and new, state-of-the-art building developments and regional testing laboratories.
Clariant will construct a Regional Technical Laboratory at the Midland facility located in the Permian Basin, currently the fastest growing oil basin in the US for oil production. At almost twice the size of Clariant's current laboratory and with upgraded equipment, Clariant will be able to increase sample activity for customers by 45%. Additional infrastructure improvements will be made including expanding office space, a new maintenance building, and on-site access roads for heavy vehicles.
In order to improve its service offerings to customers in the growing Mid-Continent region, Clariant has already consolidated its Elk City and Seiling sites into the Clinton facility and will be updating and expanding the regional technical laboratory and offices.
Jon Rogers, Global Head of Oil Services at Clariant, comments: "These significant investments in the Permian and Mid-Con regions demonstrate a further strengthening of our commitment to the strategically important US market."
Ground-breaking activities for the improvements of both sites were performed over the summer of 2017 and are expected to be completed during Q4 of 2017.
