Clariant showcases anti-pollution solutions for personal care market in China 

• Clariant will exhibit its full lineup of anti-pollution solutions at the Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients (PCHi) exhibition in Shanghai on March 19-21, 2018

Shanghai, March 6, 2018 – Clariant, a world-leader in specialty chemicals, will further advance its leading position in the personal care ingredient market by highlighting its powerful anti-pollution solutions during the Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients (PCHi) exhibition, to be held at the Shanghai World Expo and Convention Center on March 19-21, 2018. The anti-pollution solutions to be showcased include the newly launched Aristoflex Silk, under Clariant’s Aristoflex range of rheology modifiers, and Eosidin™, which tackles pollution in the indoor environment.

While urbanization and modern living bring people convenience and luxury beyond imagination, the resulting invisible harm and hazards constantly put our skin under pressure. One the one hand, emissions from vehicle exhausts and coal burning constitute a major source of inescapable outdoor pollutants. On the other hand, indoor pollution caused by the presence of allergens, such as chemical particulate matters, dust and microorganisms, are just as vicious in making the skin vulnerable.

At PCHi 2018, Clariant will feature the following innovative ingredients dedicated to anti-pollution formulations.

Powerful anti-pollution ingredients both indoor and outdoor environment
Introduced for the first time at PCHi will be Eosidin, a new product from Clariant targeting indoor pollution and tackling skin immuno-modulation to avoid irritating atopic-prone skin and triggering hypersensitivity. Eosidin is a well-characterized extract of green citrus unshiu, coming from the protected reserve of Jeju Island in South Korea. The extract is enriched in the highly potent Synephrine and Hesperidin molecules, which play a major role in regulating the eotaxin synthesis process.

Experimental data has confirmed Eosidin’s powerful features for skin protection. Among the proven capabilities are Eosidin’s stimulation functions on skin immuno-modulation that greatly relieve atopic-prone skin condition. Meanwhile, Eosidin also controls skin irritation and sensitivity by significantly inhibiting release of histamine, an amine released by body tissues in allergic reactions causing irritation. In a focus-group clinical evaluation, Eosidin also showed its skin barrier function, which helps people suffering from atopic-prone skin to recover. As an active ingredient, Eosidin can be used in various skincare and cosmetic products, such as soothing creams and anti-aging serums.

Also harvested on Jeju Island is RedSnow™, an anti-pollution ingredient targeting the outdoor environment. Its ability to fight air pollution, as well as its very powerful anti-oxidant activity, have been shown to be effective on various types of pollutants, such as PM 2.5 and PM 10, heavy metals, and PAHs.

Newly launched Aristoflex Silk polymer
Unveiled to the Chinese market for the first time at PCHi will be Clariant’s newly launched Aristoflex Silk under Clariant’s Aristoflex range of rheology modifiers. Aristoflex Silk displays good viscosity across a broad pH range from pH 2 to pH 11. In addition, it also demonstrates outstanding solvent properties, such as faster dispersion time, improved color stability and tolerance to salt, making it a highly compatible ingredient for most cosmetic applications.

At the same time, Aristoflex Silk’s strong emulsification power allows it to work in harmony with a wide selection of emollients. Coupled with the polymer’s ability to suspend particles and stabilize formulations, Aristoflex Silk is suitable for a wide range of skin-care applications, such as premium face care cream, sun-protection cream, whitening serum and skin boosting mask. Aristoflex Silk has been approved by the Chinese food and drug administration authorities as a cosmetic ingredient listed under IECIC.

More natural ingredients and personal care solutions will exhibited at Clariant booth (No.1C43, Hall 1) in the Shanghai World Expo and Convention Center on March 19-21, 2018, where its team of technical and customer service professionals will be on-hand to present their solutions and answer questions from visitors.
