Muttenz, November 15, 2021 – Clariant, a focused, sustainable and innovative specialty chemical company, today announced that it has been listed in the 2021 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), thanks to leading innovation and water management scores combined with a strong overall sustainability performance. This marks the ninth consecutive year that Clariant has been rated as one of the most sustainable companies in the global chemical sector. Clariant was ranked among the top companies in its sector in both the DJSI Europe and the DJSI World.
“Sustainability and innovation are strategic growth drivers for Clariant, and we have a strong focus on continuously steering our operations and product portfolio towards increased sustainability. I am proud that Clariant has been listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the ninth consecutive year with a particular strong rating in the area of innovation. This is in line with our ambition to lead and to support our customers with unique solutions to help them with their sustainability transformations,” said Conrad Keijzer, Chief Executive Officer, Clariant.
Clariant sets a strong focus on continuously steering its environmental performance towards increased sustainability and setting new environmental benchmarks for its operations. Earlier this year Clariant announced its commitment to ambitious new 2030 sustainability targets, which include science-based climate targets that put it firmly on the path to climate neutrality by latest 2050.
Since 2015, Clariant has performed consistently well in the innovation chapter of the DJSI assessment and achieved the highest possible score again this year. This reflects the progress made by the company to strengthen links between innovation, sustainability and digitalization, and the intense focus of the organization’s research and development function and numerous partnerships with industry to deliver high-quality innovation outcomes.
Richard Haldimann, Head of Sustainability Transformation at Clariant, said, “These results recognize the continuing efforts we are making to transform our business for a low carbon, more circular world. By combining our innovation and sustainability capabilities, we strive to create safe and sustainable products that tackle some of the most pressing sustainability challenges we face today. Like that we help make our customers successful and together become part of the global shift towards a sustainable world.”
