PolyMax™ 153 is a high-performance propylene purification catalyst for bulk removal of carbonyl sulfide (COS). The catalyst achieves outstanding purity of the polymer feedstock, with COS content below the detectable limit. This is extremely valuable for downstream operations, as it reduces the consumption of polymerization catalysts.
In the propylene purification reaction, PolyMax 153 converts COS into hydrogen sulfide (H2S) by hydrolysis using the moisture in the feedstock. The H2S can then be removed downstream using Clariant's PolyMax™ 172 adsorbent.
