Originally from the Eastern Amazon, Bacuri also occurs spontaneously in all states of the North Region of Brazil. It grows in open areas and clearings. The fruit pulp is used for food preparations and the seeds used to obtain the butter, therefore all the parts of the fruit are used.
Beraca and Clariant work with communities in the north of Brazil to collect the seeds to produce Beraca Bacuri Butter. The collection of seeds contributes to the reduction of the areas destined for manioc plantations and brings additional income to the communities.
